Tara Tabatabaie received her J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2007, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In addition to her legal expertise, Tara holds a Ph.D. in chemistry. She was a Research Scientist at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City for over 10 years before becoming a lawyer. Her scientific work involved the study of the roots and mechanisms of a variety of diseases such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, and diabetes. She has authored numerous scientific articles and several book chapters. The scientific and biomedical expertise that she brings to the cases gives our firm an enormous edge in all the cases that involve health or science issues. By way of example, Tara’s ability to determine, understand, and then explain the way the ingested drugs could interact with different systems in the body to cause harm to an individual is critical in establishing causation relating to defective drugs. Establishing causation is, in most cases, the most difficult and decisive stage of the litigation, and Tara’s expertise has proven invaluable in successful completion of this stage.
Dr. Tabatabaie currently serves on the Science Committee of the Avandia Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) Plaintiff Steering Committee (PSC) on the national level. In that position, she has contributed greatly to the plaintiffs’ case against the British drug maker, GlaxoSmithKline Corporation. Tara is increasingly asked to prepare papers and speak on these topics by litigation groups around the country.
